It actually was designed to be a direct competitor for Haynes, so it is NOT your typical student-level Artley. The quality was very good and was often considered to be on par with Haynes and Powell flutes of the same era. However, at the time, the Artley Wilkins was the top end flute made by Artley. Please dont tell me to just get a yamaha because I'm already considering it. I heard that some people like emersons but they seem questionable to me. The straight and curved headjoint options allow players to use the correct headjoint for optimum comfort while playing. I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried them and liked them.

I like armstrong and im looking at the heritage series 1 and 2. He's right that you can buy a more modern flute that probably is easier to play in tune than than a lot of older "pro" flutes. I have an armstrong model 104 and am looking for a step up flute. I have a slightly different opinion than fluteguy. it's worth the 300 euros to get it in good working order. If it has sentimental value, then by all means. It would be silver plated, yes, but in terms of design and playability, it could quite possibly be a better deal.
